Tips for Great Looking Skin

Give up processed foods

Processed foods aren’t good for your body for a variety of reasons, but when it comes to your skin, it can cause inflammation leading to medical conditions such as rosacea, arthritis, gall stones, fatty liver, cellulite, and yellowing or grayish whites of your eyes. To get and maintain clear skin, eat fiber-rich foods like apples, prunes, and veggies.

Cleanse twice at night

Your nighttime cleansing needs to be very thorough. It’s the time of the day when you’re washing away all of the dirt, grime, and makeup that has settled on your face throughout the day. Cleansing your face twice at night will ensure you get rid of all of the pore-clogging grime. Use a washcloth as it will lightly exfoliate and ensure all dirt is lightly scrubbed out of your pores. Wash with warm water and always rinse with cold. The cold water will close your pores and leave your skin looking its best.

Frequently change your pillowcase

Change your pillowcase every few nights. This will help you avoid pesky breakouts that can happen when your face is rubbing on the harsh cotton pillowcase.

Reapply sunscreen

You probably apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater in the morning, but you should also be reapplying it as you go throughout your day. Like most things, sunscreen wears off and will become less effective so reapplying every couple of hours will keep your skin protected.

Eat foods high in Omega-3’s

As we mentioned, fiber-rich foods will give you great skin but so will foods that are high in Omega-3’s. Salmon in particular helps hydrate skin from the inside out and reduces the inflammation that can cause skin redness. Antioxidant-rich foods and drinks such as blueberries, dark greens, green tea and coffee help fight free radicals that can damage the cellular structures of the skin, which will accelerate skin aging.
