3 Tips for Happy Customers

Have you ever had a customer leave a bad review or call in a complaint about something related to your service or your business? Anything short of positive reviews can be a tough pill to swallow but bad reviews can be seen as an opportunity, rather than a big failure. It’s the perfect way to make changes to your business that will ensure the happiness of your customers now and in the future.

There are a few simple things you can start doing today to turn even the grumpiest of patron into the happiest of loyal customers.

Let customers know they have been heard.

No one wants to think that their complaint or dissatisfaction has fallen on deaf ears. When someone complains about something and nothing changes, you are guaranteed to lose them as a customer and even worse, you can bet money that they will spread the word about how your business doesn’t care about their customers. When someone gives you feedback, whether positive or negative, listen to what they are saying and change what’s necessary. If a customer loves that refreshments are offered while they are waiting for their appointment, make note of it and always stay stocked on water, coffee, etc. If you have a client who says that every time they call, the receptionist is rude or you are running behind on your appointments, it’s time to make a change. Have a talk with the receptionist and give her a script to follow (if needed). If you are always running behind on appointments and people are left to wait and wait for your services, start scheduling longer appointments so that the time needed to finish a client is in the books. Always keep a tab on different review sites, such as Yelp, and keep a pulse on what your client’s are saying. They are your bread and butter and you want to keep them happy and coming back!

Appreciate Your Customers.

Don’t just work to meet your customers’ expectations; work to exceed them every day. Exceeding expectations turn an ordinary experience into a memorable one. Memorable experiences keep people coming back and, better yet, referring business your way! Offer your clients free samples of beauty products that would solve a problem they have or offer a discount for each time they refer a friend. Customers like to feel valued and appreciated so show them some love.

Offer Something Only You Can.

As we mentioned, customers want to feel special. Going above and beyond by adding personal touches goes a long way. Try to customize or personalize your services in some way so that your clients can only come to you if they want exceptional service. Whether you offer a quick how-to demonstration that teaches clients how to style their hair or gift-wrapping during certain holidays (think Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc.) when they purchase products as gifts, these little “extras” will leave a big impact.
