Get Healthy, Strong Nails with These Top 6 Tips

We all want long, healthy nails that don’t chip, peel, break, or are soft. Often times, especially when growing out your nails, it can be challenging to keep them healthy and strong. When nails aren’t properly cared for, or are hidden underneath fake nails, they tend to dry out and become brittle. Add nail biting to the mix and forget about it. If you are constantly exposing your nails to water or harsh chemicals (even things such as detergent or nail polish), your nails are bound to become weak and unsightly.
So, what do we do about this and how do we get on our way back to having strong, beautiful nails that we are proud to show off? It’s never too late to improve your nail health and you can do so by following a few of these simple home remedies.

Olive Oil – Mix 3 teaspoons of warm olive oil with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your nail and let dry. Once dry, put on a pair of cotton gloves and sleep with them on. In the morning, remove gloves and rinse nails with water. This will help soften the nail and help to repair your nails.
Tea Tree Oil – Soak nails in warm water that has a few drops of tea tree oil in it to get rid of yellowed or tinted finger nails.

Green Tea – Soaking your nails in cool green tea for 10 minutes will help prevent brittle nails and will strengthen them.

Flax Seed – Adding a few tablespoons of ground flaxseed to your morning breakfast cereal is wonderful for your nails because it’s full of vitamins and nutrients that are essential for healthy nails.

Vitamin E Oil – Keep your nails healthy and hydrated by applying some vitamin E oil to your nails and gently massaging them for several minutes.

Increase Biotin and Protein Intake – Biotin and protein are essential for healthy nails so adding foods to your diet that are rich in these nutrients will help a great deal. Try adding salmon, corn, sweet potatoes, carrots, and egg yolk to your diet.
